For my 3D Classes we had to model, texture, render a World War 2 Aircraft I did the Japanese A6M2 Zero. The modeling was what I found to be my strongest part of the project, I need to work on my texturing a lot more along with my render tree management. For the last of this project we rendered the planes out with ambient occlusion and shadows then composited them in Photoshop to sell our models. My composition I enjoy but the texturing seems to stick out like a sore thumb. My next model is definitely not going to be white! Critique is welcomed and encouraged! thanks alot

Hello from a clan mate in L 2! I like your work Josh, but I think u must check proportions between wing span and plane length. Technical data are Wing Span: 36 feet, 11-3/32 inches and Length: 29 feet, 11 inches. In your presentation of the model it looks a little longer. Also, I can suggest to use some smoke traces near the sides exhaust of the engine, this thing can give a more dynamic image of the model. I'm not sure if from the point of operating the plane all details are correct. Flapses an profundors of the both planes are in the same position, but the planes have a different position in flight. The small wheel from the back end under the plane body must be in front of the articulated joint. Another thing, the engine exhaust was splitted in 5 fans and at your model there is no split. I think the distance between the disk and the vertical stripe painted on the side of the body can't be higher than 3/4 or 2/3 of the diametre of the disk. At your model seems higher and create the impression of a disproportioned body, longer than expected. Also, another background, not the fog, like some rice fields on the terrace of the mountain can sustain more contrast for your models. I hope you don't mind that I made some observation on your work and keep in mind I like it very much. All the best for you Josh and keep the good work !

Hey Gab ! thanks man i actually helps alot when people crit my stuff. As for the proportions of the wing span and everything it must just be the angle of the pose but they are accurate that one thing I was completley sure of on accountof alot of modelers screw that up. The rig all works like it should aswell i did some R&D on how all the flaps work and made sure of that and yeah the flaps look a lil off for the roll of the plane. as for the exhaust I just did a very poor unwrapping job I just watched a DVD on UV unwrapping and have learned alot of new techniques since my plane I may revisit it and retexture because there is alot long with my unwrap and my textures themselves, my bump and specular map is also very weak. O and the rear wheel I j ust put it where I did because a couple different reference pictures showed different things. Anyways thanks lot for the critique man and Yeah I was looking to come back to playing with the clan but I heard that nightmare is down indefinatly which means so is my character! lol o well!
